History of Kotawehera Divisional Secretariat
The old administrative boundary map consists of 12 GN divisions. By this time, 12 divisional secretariat divisions have been divided into 31 divisions.
The oldest sacred places are the places of Hangaragala, Nagala, Kadawalagedara, Kudaruweliya, Kotawehera and Devram Veherai.
The legends claim that these temples were built during the reign of King Mahasen and Anuradhapura during the reign of King Dewanapatissa.
